40G QSFP+ DAC Cable Overview

The 40G QSFP+ DAC Cable is a passive direct attach copper cable designed for short-distance 40Gbps connections between devices equipped with compatible QSFP+ ports.

The cable integrates a QSFP+ connector at each end with a fixed Twinax copper cable assembly. It carries electrical signals directly between the connected devices without optical conversion, eliminating the need for separate optical transceivers and fiber patch cables.

The 40G connection uses four parallel electrical lanes to provide an aggregate data rate of 40Gbps. This makes the cable suitable for switch-to-switch, switch-to-server, switch-to-storage, router, high-performance computing, and data center rack connections.

Standard selectable lengths include 0.5m, 1m, 2m, 3m, 5m, and 7m. Shorter cables are recommended wherever possible because they are easier to route and generally provide greater signal margin. Longer passive versions require suitable cable gauge and compatible host equipment.

Compatibility coding is available for Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Huawei, H3C, HPE Aruba, Intel, Mellanox, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, ZTE, Brocade, Extreme, Alcatel-Lucent, and other supported platforms. Customers should provide the exact device model used at each end.
