10G SFP+ Active Optical Cable Overview

The 10G SFP+ Active Optical Cable provides a direct optical connection between two network devices equipped with compatible SFP+ ports.

Each end integrates an SFP+ optical transceiver with the internal multimode fiber permanently attached to form one complete cable assembly. This eliminates the need to purchase two separate optical modules and an additional fiber patch cable, while reducing the number of exposed optical connection points.

The cable supports data rates up to 10.312Gbps and uses an 850nm optical transmission system. Standard selectable lengths include 3m, 5m, and 10m, making it suitable for connections within a rack, between adjacent racks, and across nearby data center cabinets.

Compared with copper DAC cabling, an AOC provides lower cable weight, better electromagnetic interference immunity, and greater flexibility for longer short-reach links. It is suitable for switch-to-switch, switch-to-server, switch-to-network-card, and switch-to-storage connections.

Compatibility coding is available for Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Huawei, H3C, HPE Aruba, Intel, Mellanox, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, ZTE, Brocade, Extreme, Alcatel-Lucent, and other supported platforms.

The exact equipment model should be provided when ordering. For links between two different equipment brands, both endpoint models should be submitted so that the coding requirements can be confirmed.
