40G QSFP+ Active Optical Cable Overview

The 40G QSFP+ Active Optical Cable provides a direct 40Gbps optical connection between two devices equipped with compatible QSFP+ ports.

Each end integrates a QSFP+ optical transceiver with the multimode fiber permanently attached inside the cable assembly. This eliminates the need to purchase separate optical transceivers and fiber patch cables, simplifying installation and reducing the number of optical connection points.

The cable is designed for switch-to-switch, switch-to-server, switch-to-storage, and rack-to-rack connections in data centers and enterprise networks. Compared with copper DAC cables, an AOC is better suited to longer short-reach links and provides improved electromagnetic interference immunity.

This model uses OM3 multimode optical cable and supports standard lengths from 1m to 20m. Compatibility coding is available for Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Huawei, H3C, HPE Aruba, Mellanox, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, ZTE, and other supported equipment.

Select the cable length according to the actual routing path rather than the straight-line distance. The cable should be routed without tight bends, crushing, pulling, or excessive tension.

AOC refers to a cable assembly in which the optical transceivers and internal fibers are permanently integrated rather than removable. Standard 40G QSFP+ AOCs use four full-duplex lanes to provide an aggregate 40Gbps connection.
