Product Overview

The MPO to SC APC Cable is a 16-fiber OS2 single mode breakout cable designed to distribute one high-density MPO/MTP interface into sixteen individual SC/APC fiber connections.

One end uses a 16-fiber MPO/MTP connector, while the breakout side provides sixteen SC/APC simplex connectors. This configuration allows multiple single mode fiber channels to be routed through one compact MPO backbone cable and then separated into individual SC/APC interfaces at the equipment, patch panel or optical distribution frame.

The SC/APC connectors use angled physical contact polishing to provide high return loss and reduced back reflection, making the cable especially suitable for reflection-sensitive single mode applications such as PON networks, CATV systems, telecom infrastructure, optical distribution frames and fiber testing systems.

Compared with installing sixteen individual long-distance patch cords, the 16-fiber MPO breakout design helps reduce backbone cable congestion, simplify routing and improve fiber organization.

Connector A can be configured with MPO/MTP male or female gender and APC or UPC polishing according to the mating interface. Type A, Type B and Type C polarity options are available for different cabling designs.

MPO/MTP male and female connectors are not interchangeable when the mating hardware requires a specific pin configuration.

APC and UPC polishing should also match the mating interface. Do not directly mate an MPO/APC connector with an MPO/UPC interface.

MPO Polarity Selection

The cable is available with Type A, Type B and Type C polarity configurations.

The correct polarity depends on the fiber mapping required by the connected equipment and cabling system.

Actual transmission distance and data rate depend on the optical transceivers, wavelength, optical power budget and complete link design rather than the passive cable alone.

Factory Optical Testing

Each cable assembly is tested for optical performance before shipment.

Testing is performed at 1310nm and 1550nm to verify insertion loss and connection quality.

Published limits include:

MPO/MTP insertion loss: maximum ≤0.70dB

SC connector insertion loss: maximum ≤0.30dB

SC/APC return loss: ≥60dB
